Friday, August 20, 2010 — ATTENTION ALL USHL PLAYERS: The 2010 USHL regular season has come to an end. The American divison playoffs concluded this past week with Alpine upending the defending champion Rebels, 9-4 in the championship game. Congratulations Alpine on their first USHL championship! [Read thru the final paragraph below. Important playoff information]
The other divisons all play their playoffs this week. The schedule has been posted so please check it carefully so you know when your team plays. To see the full schedule, check it from the League home page (www.ushl.org) , not your individual team site.
In all divisions, 1st and 2nd places have a bye, while 3rd plays 6th and 4th plays 5th. The winner of the 3rd/6th game plays the 1st place team and the winner of the 4th/5th game plays the 2nd place team. The winners of those games play for the championship on Thursday August 26, 2010.
Seedings tie breaker: In the event of a tie in the standings, the seedings are determined by: 1. Points acquired in head to head matchup. 2. Goals for minus goals against in games against common opponents played an equal number of times. This means you do not count any games where both/all teams that are tied did not play another opponenet an equal number of times. (i.e. Dew Crew and Sharks are tied in the standings. DC played the Vikings twice while the Sharks only played them once. The Vikings games do not count in the goal differential calculation for either team.) 3. Total goals for divided by total goals against in the games against common opponents. The greatest quotient is the higher seed. 4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 using ALL games played. 5. Coin toss.
European Division 1. Kodiaks 2. Steamers (tiebreaker: +8) 3. Canucks (tiebreaker: +3) 4. Panda-Style 5. Thirsty Dogs 6. Cajun Hot Sticks 7. Hitmen [Did not make playoffs]
International Division 1. Vikings 2. Tap Room 3. Dew Crew (tiebreaker: +12) 4. Sharks (tiebreaker: +8) 5. Cutthroat Club 48 (tiebreaker:-head to head win) 6. Vigilantes (tiebreaker:-head to head loss) 7. Morgan Landscaping [Did not make playoffs] 8. Ice-Pak [Did not make playoffs]
EVERYONE MUST HAVE PLAYED IN AT LEAST 3 REGULAR SEASON GAMES FOR THEIR TEAM AND MUST BE FULLY PAID UP AND PROPERLY REGISTERED IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR PLAYOFFS. If your online stats do not reflect 3 games played, you will not be allowed on the ice for playoffs. If you have a balance owing to the league it is YOUR responsibility to get it paid up BEFORE you step on the ice for your first playoff game. No excuse is acceptable at this point of the season. It is your responsibility to track me down and get your account paid off. The game scorekeeper will have a list of eligible players. It will be difficult for you to get on the eligible list if you leave it until game time. I will not be at all the games and may not be able to be reached by phone at game time.
Any money, player eligibility or goaltender issues, please bring them to my attention by Sunday afternoon so I can deal with them before Monday's games.
Payments can be made over the phone with a credit or debit card. Call my cell at 801-718-7994. If no answer, try me at 801-943-2249.
Good luck in the playoffs. We'll see you at the rink. Matt Brickley
